Campus Dining

Our campus dining facilities are open to be used by all students, faculty, and staff. Meal times at Magnuson Campus Center offer a wonderful opportunity to socialize and get to know other North Park students. You won’t want to miss it.

The dining hall makes every effort to accommodate a wide range of dietary needs, including food allergies, as well as class schedules. Individuals with special circumstances are invited view weekly menu plans with ingredient lists at Campus Dish or to contact our dining services manager, at (773) 244-4939, with any questions or concerns. Students with food allergies can also seek accommodations with the Access Specialist by calling (773) 244-5737 or emailing ADA@honornm.com.

Meal Plan Policy

First-year students living in the residence halls must be on a minimum of the Weekly 15 during the first semester. First-year students will have the opportunity to select between the Weekly 15 or All Access plan when signing up for housing. If no selection is chosen, all resident students will automatically be assigned to the Weekly 15 plan. Meal Plan may be changed through the first week of the semester by submitting the Meal Plan Add or Change Form (to access the form, log in using the NPU credentials). First-year students during their first semester may only select between the Weekly 15 or All Access plan.

Returning residents must select either a Weekly 7, Weekly 15, or All Access plan. These students will have the opportunity to select between the Weekly 7, Weekly 15, or All Access plan when signing up for housing. If no selection is chosen, the Weekly 15 plan will automatically be assigned. Meal Plan may be changed through the first week of the semester by contacting Residence Life and Housing.

Students living in undergraduate apartments and houses who have not selected a meal plan will have a two-meals-per-week benefit in the campus dining hall built into their housing contracts.

Students living in graduate student housing who are interested in frequenting the dining hall can select meal plans for each semester by notifying Graduate Student Housing or purchase flex dollars or pay for each meal at the door.

Faculty, staff, and visitors can also pay at the door to the dining hall for individual meals.

Meal Plan Options

All Access: Enjoy full access to a variety of meal choices at the time and place that fits your schedule. The All Access plan provides you with unlimited visits to the dining hall, including all-you-can-eat buffets seven days a week during operating hours. A total of $200 Flex Dollars is included in this plan. Aramark offers snacks each morning and afternoon in the dining room accessible only to those on this plan. Learn more.

Weekly 15: The perfect blend of flexibility and value that allots 15 visits per week to the dining hall and either $200 or $350 Flex Dollars. The meal week begins with breakfast on Thursday and ends with dinner on Wednesday. Meals not used during the week cannot be rolled over to the next week. Learn more.

Weekly 7: Meals are ready and available when you need them. This meal plan includes 7 visits to the dining hall per week each semester. A total of $500 Flex Dollars is included. If your schedule varies week to week due to working, an internship or other commitments, this might be the perfect meal plan for you. Learn more.

Block 25 – Commuter only: The ideal plan for commuter students on the go. Includes 25 visits to the Dining Hall and $100 Flex Dollars. Learn more.

All Flex $275 – Commuter only: $275 Flex Dollars that can be used in the dining hall, 1891 Bread Co. and Viking Market & Café. Learn more.

Flex Dollars

ARAMARK’s Flex Dollars program allows students to load money into an account associated with their North Park IDs and use these funds to pay for meals in the dining hall or make purchases in 1891 Bread Co. or the Viking Market & Café. Add as much as you wish in Flex Dollars, at any time online, and use your ID to pay. Flex Dollar balances will carry over between fall and spring semesters each year, but expire at the end of an academic year. Flex Dollars can be added in addition to any of North Park’s meal plans or purchased separately by anyone not on a meal plan. In addition, no sales tax is added to student purchases made with Flex Dollars, for even more savings.

Bickner Bistro and 1891 Bread Co.

Located on the first floor of the Johnson Center for Science and Community Life, the Bickner Bistro is the newest addition to our campus dining facilities. It includes a wide range of seating and table options, including comfortable couches near fireplaces and televisions. Students use Bickner Bistro to study, collaborate with faculty and staff on projects, and to hang out between classes.

The Bistro space includes the 1891 Bread Co. counter; its menu includes brewed gourmet coffee, specialty coffee drinks, smoothies, baked goods, salads, hearty soups, made-to-order sandwiches, and dessert.

Campus Dining Hall

Providing breakfast, lunch, and dinner for students, faculty, staff, and guests, the main campus dining hall is located at the south end of our main University campus. It is on the second floor of Magnuson Campus Center, near the Burgh and Anderson residence halls.

Food service includes options to please all diners, including offerings for vegetarians and other special dietary needs. Contact our food service manager at (773) 244-4939 for more information.

The dining hall at North Park is more than just a place to eat—it’s where students catch up with their friends, meet new people, and participate in a number of campus traditions, including a yearly Thanksgiving meal served by faculty and staff.

Viking Market & Café

Viking Market & Café is an á la carte retail food shop with plenty of tables and comfortable seating, large-screen televisions, and a wide selection of sandwiches, salads, snacks, and beverages. Viking Market & Café is located on the west side of the gymnasium, adjacent to the hallway leading to Carlson Tower lobby.

When you’re on our campus, we encourage you to enjoy a meal in our dining hall, which has been newly-renovated and offers a wide range of meal options to fit every dietary need.

When you want to get off campus for a meal, though, the options are innumerable. This is a world-class city, and North Parkers love to take advantage of restaurants you can’t find anywhere else. Our own Albany Park neighborhood boasts scores of ethnic restaurants, and easy public transportation connects students and visitors to Chicago’s other notable dining spots, all across the city.
